Here\u2019s the\niGaming news round-up for January 6, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"river-igaming-refocuses-efforts-on-b2b-license\">River iGaming Refocuses Efforts on B2B License<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>River\niGaming<\/strong> has parted\nwith its <strong>UK B2C license<\/strong>, citing concerns about the segment\u2019s future.\nFollowing a strategic review of its operations, River announced redundancies\nand said that it would be selling off its <strong>B2C assets<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>During a\nQ3 review in 2019<\/strong>,\nthe company partnered with <strong>Akur Capital<\/strong> to sell off the B2C arm and\ntransition to a B2B company or a provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)\nsolutions instead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an\nofficial statement published on <strong>December 23<\/strong>, River explained that the\nlongevity and sustainability of the B2C vertical was in question, and it had decided\nto shed its assets related to the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout\n2020, the company will spearhead its shift towards a fully-licensed B2B\nbusiness. To do so, the company will try to bring new partners onboard. The Q3\nreview confirmed the interest in the segment, but it noted a slow activity in\nB2C, hence the company\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"everi-snaps-up-mgt-assets-worth-25-million\">Everi Snaps up MGT Assets Worth $25 million <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Everi<\/strong>, a Las Vegas-based company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2019\/12\/30\/1964958\/0\/en\/Everi-Acquires-Strategic-Assets-From-Provider-of-Casino-Loyalty-and-Marketing-Technology-Micro-Gaming-Technologies.html\">has decided to pay $25 million<\/a> to acquire the business of <strong>Micro\nGaming Technologies (MGT)<\/strong>, a provider of financial technology, gaming products,\nand other casino-related assets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a\nresult, Everi will expand its own portfolio with a number of player loyalty\nsolutions as well as FinTech products and services, edging out the iGaming\nsegment. As per the current terms of the acquisition, <strong>Everi has paid $15\nmillion in cash<\/strong>, and another $5 million should be paid by April 2020 with a\nfinal payment of $5 million coming by December 24, 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everi\nExecutive VP <strong>Darren Simmons <\/strong>welcomed the acquisition of the company,\npointing out the synergies that the move brought with it. As per Simmons, the\nacquisition created a new leader who would serve as a one-stop shop for <em>\u201ccomprehensive,\nintegrated solutions that enable a seamless, convenient experience for casino\npatrons.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"new-hampshire-launched-sports-betting\">New Hampshire Launched Sports Betting <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New\nHampshire<\/strong> has long\nbeen one of the most anticipated sports betting launches in the United States.\nAs of 2020, all residents in the state can tap freely into the sports betting\noptions brought to them by the <strong>New Hampshire State Lottery<\/strong> and\nspecifically through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonherald.com\/2019\/12\/25\/draftkings-to-launch-mobile-sports-betting-in-new-hampshire-by-end-of-the-year\/\">an exclusive <strong>multi-year\npartnership with<\/strong> <strong>DraftKings<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>December\n30<\/strong>, the state officially gave the go-ahead to all sports betting operation,\nincluding online betting, which puts New Hampshire at a significant advantage\nover most neighboring state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Governor <strong>Chris\nSununu<\/strong> has high hopes for the upcoming major sports events in February and\nMarch, with the <strong>Super Bowl<\/strong> and <strong>March Madness<\/strong> respectively. He\neven placed a wager on the New England Patriots to qualify and win the Super\nBowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He may yet\nlose on this wager as the Patriots just got dismantled by the Tennessee Titans\non Sunday, December 5, with 20-13 going the way of the Titans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless,\nlegalizing sports betting in the state is seen as a strong move. The New\nHampshire Lottery is hoping to use the tax proceeds from legalizing sports as a\nway to boost the education fund in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to\nits exclusivity contract in the state, DraftKings can focus on driving higher\nbetting results, which would translate into further tax revenue for the state,\nlottery officials hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"draftkings-strikes-a-partnership-with-madison-square-garden\">DraftKings Strikes a Partnership with Madison Square Garden <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>DraftKings\nachieved an important milestone last week in New Hampshire, launching the\nsports betting industry in the state. The company, however, didn\u2019t limit itself\nto NH and struck another high-profile partnership with the <strong>Madison Square Garden\n(MSG)<\/strong> in New York. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a\nresult, the company is now the official betting partner for one of the United\nStates\u2019 most famous sports arena. Previously, DraftKings had a running daily\nfantasy sports partnership with Madison Square Garden dating back to 2017. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting\non the latest development, MSG Executive VP <strong>Ron Skotarczak <\/strong>had this to\nsay:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>DraftKings has established itself as one of the\nmost successful gaming companies in the industry and we are honored to continue\nour partnership with their incredible brand.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving\nforward, DraftKings is also considered an official betting partner to the New\nYork Knicks and New York Rangers games as well as broadcasts on MSG Networks. Meanwhile,\nDraftKings is already in the process of an acquisition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nDecember, <strong>Diamond Eagle Acquisition Corp.\u2019s SBTech<\/strong> announced the\nacquisition of DraftKings, setting another important consolidation in the\niGaming and betting market in motion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"betamerica-comes-to-indiana\">BetAmerica Comes to Indiana <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Churchill\nDowns Incorporated (CDI)<\/strong> has announced the release of the <strong>BetAmerica<\/strong> sportsbook in\nIndiana at the Full House Resorts\u2019 Rising Star Casino Resort in Rising Sun. CDI\nis taking advantage of the generous landscape for sports betting in Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eu.indystar.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2019\/05\/08\/governor-holcomb-signs-bill-legalizing-indiana-sports-betting-allowing-terre-haute-casino\/1128554001\/\">Legalized by Governor. <strong>Eric\nHolcomb<\/strong><\/a>,\nIndiana has managed to beat Illinois and be the first state to offer sports\nbetting in the area. Holcomb estimates that Indiana stands to generate a total\nsports handle of <strong>$2 billion a year<\/strong>, although Super Bowl and March Madness\nresults haven\u2019t come in yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ian\nWilliams<\/strong>, president\nof <strong>BetAmerica<\/strong>, said that the company is excited to be part Indiana\u2019s\nlandscape. The company is specifically well-poised to benefit by Indiana\u2019s\nopenness to mobile betting, which is expected to drive the bulk of the interest\nin the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a recent\ninterview, <strong>Eric Holcomb<\/strong> said that he is optimistic about the future of\nsports betting in the state.
