{"id":620,"date":"2020-02-25T16:30:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T16:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.casinosites.us\/news\/?p=620"},"modified":"2020-05-15T17:41:25","modified_gmt":"2020-05-15T17:41:25","slug":"igaming-round-up-new-hampshire-hits-1m-in-bets-eldorado-and-caesar-merger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.casinosites.us\/news\/igaming-round-up-new-hampshire-hits-1m-in-bets-eldorado-and-caesar-merger\/","title":{"rendered":"iGaming Round Up: New Hampshire Hits 1m in Bets, Eldorado and Caesar Merger"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>CasinoSites.us brings you the latest news\nround-up from the casino and iGaming industry in the United States from Monday\n17 through February 21. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"new-hampshire-hits-1m-bets-in-just-six-weeks\">New Hampshire Hits 1m Bets in Just Six Weeks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Six weeks\nafter the release of online gambling in <strong>New Hampshire<\/strong>, the state has\nseen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fosters.com\/news\/20200215\/nh-lottery-surpasses-1-million-sports-bets\">1 million bets placed<\/a>, not least of all thanks to <strong>DraftKings<\/strong>,\nthe official sportsbook in the Granite State. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The launch\nof the mobile skin came on <strong>December<\/strong> <strong>30<\/strong>, <strong>2019<\/strong> and <strong>36,923<\/strong>\npeople found time to register since, <strong>amassing some $28.6 million wagered on\nsports in the first six weeks<\/strong> of the legal operation of the activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1mth\nbet was placed on February 8, with Governor <strong>Chris Sununu<\/strong> commending the\nstate\u2019s success and ability to capture on important revenue. <strong>Charlie\nMcIntyre<\/strong>, lottery executive, also spoke favorably of the most recent\ndevelopment, emphasizing on the importance of achieving the milestone in a\nshort time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New Hampshire is also leading the way thanks to the fact participants can wager online, making it easy for the state to capture revenue that normally would have ended offshore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"eldorado-and-caesars-get-mississippis-approval-of-merger-acquisition-deal\">Eldorado and Caesars Get Mississippi\u2019s Approval of Merger\/Acquisition Deal <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Eldorado is\nedging closer to completing the acquisition of Caesars, as the <strong>Mississippi Gaming\nCommission<\/strong> <strong>(MGA)<\/strong> has become the latest regulatory body to clear the\nlandmark deal between the two gaming giants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Caesars<\/strong> and <strong>Eldorado<\/strong> shareholders nodded\ntheir approval of the merger back in June 2019 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/business\/casinos-gaming\/caesars-eldorado-shareholders-to-meet-nov-15-on-merger-plan-1868967\/\">later confirmed in November<\/a>, with the total amount of the partnership\namounting to <strong>$17.3 billion<\/strong>. Now, the companies are looking for legal\nclearance from several regulators to ensure that fair competition practices are\nupheld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nMississippi approval is an important step forwards towards the completion of\nthe project as it fulfils one of the core conditions of the deal, i.e.\nobtaining greenlight from the state. Meanwhile, both shareholders have closed\nranks in support of the deal <strong>with 99% voting in favor of the acquisition\/merger\nback in 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new\nentity will create a gaming behemoth with properties in 16 states in the United\nStates, including California, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Pennsylvania,\nNew Jersey, and Nevada among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"las-vegas-headquartered-mgm-resorts-makes-serious-bid-for-osaka-integrated-resort\">Las Vegas Headquartered MGM Resorts Makes Serious Bid for Osaka Integrated Resort<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>MGM Resorts\nare making <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com\/investing\/2020\/02\/23\/mgm-resorts-chances-for-japan-casino-license-just.aspx\">a serious move on <strong>their Osaka\nIntegrated Resort project<\/strong><\/a>, with the local government announcing that the gaming giant was the\nsole bidder for the project along with Orix Corporation, a Japanese financial\nfirm that has joined MGM resorts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All bids\nhad to be submitted by <strong>February 14<\/strong>, making <strong>MGM Resorts<\/strong> the only\nqualifying entity. The estimated value of the project is at least <strong>$12\nbillion<\/strong> with the coronavirus putting a spanner in the works and dissuading\nmany would-have-been investors to proceed, including other US casino giants,\nsuch as Melco Resorts, Wynn Resorts, and Las Vegas Sands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving\nforward, <strong>MGM Resorts<\/strong> will have to prepare the documentation necessary to\nreceive further approval from the <strong>Osaka Government<\/strong>, and not least from\nJapan\u2019s national government which will ultimately oversee any bid that is\ncoming under serious consideration from local authorities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"us-casinos-reopen-in-macau-after-two-week-hiatus\">US Casinos Reopen in Macau after Two-Week Hiatus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>US casinos\nare back in Macau after they opened last week, allowing only masked punters on\nthe premises. The re-launch of the gambling hub comes after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barrons.com\/articles\/gambling-stocks-macau-casinos-closed-coronavirus-51580846384\"><strong>a two-week blanket ban<\/strong><\/a> on all public and specifically\ngambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even the\nre-opening is not ideal as it threatens public well-being, officials fear, but\nnot opening casinos would risk completely recking the local economy, which is\nheavily reliant on casinos gross gaming revenue (GGR). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the\nmeantime, analysts already estimate that Macau will see its worst year to date,\nas they lose <strong>between $1.5 million and $2.6 billion<\/strong> every single day. The\nlosses over the 14-day period are estimated at $40 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not all\ncasinos have re-opened completely as well. US casino\u2019s Chinese subsidiaries,\nincluding Wynn Macau, Sands China, and MGM China will have 30 days to launch\noperations back to normal.
