Big Boost for New York Gambling as More Options Come to the State

2022 has kicked off on a very high note for the Empire State as it welcomes a host of new betting operations. This is not only exciting because it finally fulfills the wishes of millions of bettors within the state’s borders but also because it opens the doors for a new and much-needed revenue source.

Much of this development is with regards to online and mobile sports betting which have not been available to punters. While in-person sports betting has been a reality in New York since 2019, it has not been performing quite to the level of other states including the neighboring New Jersey.

FanDuel’s Long-Awaited Arrival

Last Thursday, renowned sports betting and daily fantasy sports operator FanDuel posted a neat message saying “See you Saturday, New York.” With that, the company confirmed that it is one of the four online sportsbooks that will be launching in the state on Saturday, January 8, 2022.

As it stands, FanDuel has operations in 12 other states across the country. Its entry into the New York online gambling market was a long time coming. It is an exciting development that is set to shake up the gaming scene the state quite a bit.

BetRivers on the Way

Another popular sports betting brand that is making its online and mobile debut in New York is Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers. The company also just recently announced that it has received the approval of the New York State Gaming Commission and would be commencing its operations on Saturday.

DraftKings’ Debut

Arguably FanDuel’s biggest rival in the United States, it comes as no surprise that DraftKings was not left out in the New York venture. The company is also making its highly-anticipated entrance into the state’s lucrative sports betting scene. While the operator already has some presence in New York’s retail betting space, its mobile offering will likely be its main highlight going forwards.

Some of the exciting things that it will be bringing to compete with the other operators include in-game microbetting and player prop wagers across different sports.

Caesars Sportsbook Not Left Out

While it may seem like an odd one out compared to the other four operators, Caesars Sportsbook has shown that it has what it takes to compete with them. Considering the company’s prowess in retail gambling operations, its experience and resources will come in handy as it begins its online operations in New York.

Its brand reputation will also likely make it an appealing option to people who are familiar with its land-based casinos. If the quality of those experiences is anything to go by, sports bettors in the state have a lot to look forward to.

Sports Betting Ads Taking a Leap

Another notable development that is coming to New York is the opening of the advertisement space for mobile and online sportsbooks. Most notably, Google has recently updated its Google Ads gambling policy to accommodate the new changes. As such, the platform will now allow certified and state-licensed entities in the state to place sports betting ads.

The opportunities for growth of the Empire State’s gambling sector are now better than ever. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out but we are pretty sure the revenue figures for January will be very impressive.
