Nothing entirely comes close to the fun and excitement that comes with enjoying my favorite casino games at a retail gambling venue or even an online casino. Even so, I have always wondered what it feels like to be on the other side.
While I certainly enjoy being a customer and all of the friendly treatment I get at the casinos, I have often been fascinated by dealers and their job. In most part, it seems to be the perfect place to be for any avid gambler. Not only will I be able to play all of the games I love, but I will also have a chance to interact with different kinds of people.

But wait, the money will not technically be mine, at least not all of it, that is. Still, there are so many perks I believe come with being employed as a dealer at a casino.
There are also some benefits, such as free food and drinks, that some venues offer their dealers. That might seem a little simplistic, but some of the casinos I have visited have excellent catering services. Getting started is also not going too difficult. Working as a dealer does not require me to have a shiny college degree.

As I continued pondering over the issue, I began to get even more serious about it than I initially anticipated. However, I may have overlooked one thing this whole time – the pay.
So, how much do casino dealers make? I dived into the subject, and the following is what I found.
The first place I checked was the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and according to them, the average pay for a casino dealer in the United States is about $14,700. The actual amount for every individual dealer will, of course, depend on the casino that they are working at. Such things as the size and popularity of these venues will also play a massive role in the pay.
In Las Vegas, for instance, dealers make between $10,000 and $60,00 every year. This typically translates to an hourly rater that starts from $10 to $16 and sometimes even $25. This means that Las Vegas would be one of the best places to start a career as a casino dealer. The average pay rises to just over $39,000 per year or close to $19 hourly in Nevada.
Casinos in other states may pay even higher, but the overall average is pretty impressive, especially considering that the academic requirements, as mentioned earlier. Besides, if you have been visiting land-based casinos for a long time, you will be aware of the fact that the salary is not the only form of income for casino dealers. As a result, many casino dealers make much more than the basic pay that the casinos have to offer them.
As it turns out, tips make up a significant chunk of the overall pay that dealers get from the casinos that they work at. Lots of gamblers are very generous, especially when they are having a great time at the gaming tables, or they on a winning streak. Either way, dealers have a lot to be happy since these tips offer them the chance to supplement their basic pay.
I tip when I can, and have seen a lot of the tips the dealers get; the job seems even rosier now. However, something that you might be interested in knowing is the fact that tips are also treated differently depending on the casino that you are playing at.

While some casinos in America allow each dealer to keep all of the tips they earn and others put all of the tips collected into a pool. The total amount is then shared equally among the dealers. Both of these options are quite reasonable. Keeping all my tips as the former method works would be nice, but the latter shields me against missing out on extra income in case I ever have bad days where I don’t get any tips. It makes sense.
With tips, some card dealers have reported being able to make up to $30,000 or even more in additional revenue. Tipping is a deeply rooted American culture, and it is great to see that even dealers are getting a piece of the pie.
I am pretty sure; like me, your decision mainly hangs on the pay. The pay is not too shabby, especially considering all of the tips that you can expect. However, not be the only thing that you look into when considering this career path.
Being a dealer comes with some challenges that may make it not worth it for you. Sometimes you may need to work long shifts, and you may come across players that are not pleasant to deal with.
In some cases, you will also need to pay for your training to get approval to be a dealer. So, if you are willing to put up with all of these things, then it might be time to take a leap forward and try your hand at being a casino dealer. Who knows? You may end up liking it.
